Family Centre

Have you heard of the École Julie-Riel Family Centre?

We are a classroom located in the school where parents, grandparents and caregivers, along with their children ages birth to 5, can play, grow and learn together.

We offer Stay & Play sessions during the week, both in the morning and afternoon. For specific program times and scheduling, you can always find our calendar and newsletter on the school website and posted at the school entrance.

Come as little or as often as you like – whatever fits your schedule.

Join us to make new connections and meet other families from the community. Take the opportunity to slow down and join in on playtime with your child. Feel free to invite your friends with young children! Parenting is the hardest job you will ever have and it’s nice to learn you are not alone.

Our typical Stay & Play sessions usually start with free play and gym time, followed by a snack shared together in community. We then end our program with a story, and some songs and rhymes.

Check our calendar for some of our special activities such as Messy Science, Kids Cooking, Fun in French, Moe the Mouse and Music with Nicole, as well as our popular evening Craft Night program.

We also offer lending book bags for families to sign out for up to two weeks.

In the spring, the Family Centre also offers a Ready for School program for children who will be starting maternelle here at École Julie-Riel in September. This play-based program aims to help children prepare for their transition into a school setting.  The 2 half day sessions per week usually start mid-April and run until mid-May.

All of the Family Centre programs are FREE thanks to funding provided by Healthy Child Manitoba, the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ and other community organizations.

How to Register

Registration is easy and joining the Family Centre is FREE! When you arrive for the first time, you will fill out a registration form. After the first visit, you will simply sign in on the daily attendance sheet. There is no need to preregister (unless a program is marked otherwise). Just arrive within the first 45 minutes of any scheduled Stay & Play session.

Please reach out anytime! We look forward to welcoming you back to the Centre or meeting you for the first time.
