Strategic Action 2.4: Social & Emotional Learning

Create and implement a social and emotional learning curriculum in all classrooms, rooted in trauma-responsive practices.

Starting with Adults

This work is deeply connected to our commitment to trauma-responsive practices (Action 1.3). Our professional development committee has determined the most effective path forward is to begin with adult learning. By first equipping our staff with a strong understanding of trauma-responsive principles, we build a solid foundation for them to then teach social and emotional skills to students effectively.

A Framework for Students

The ultimate goal is to develop and implement a comprehensive social and emotional learning framework for all students. This framework will be a direct extension of the trauma-responsive training that staff receive, ensuring a consistent and supportive approach across the entire division. Our aim is to empower every student with the social and emotional competencies they need to thrive.
